Indeed, so far the political Left in Britain has spent the Euros 2020 championship actually making an effort to fly the English national colours. We haven’t even had any Left-wing politicians sneering at it. So far we haven’t had a debate on whether the flag is too much associated with imperialism, the “far-Right” or Christian saints.
The success of the English team has had a wonderful, transformative effect on this country. For the first time in years the cross of St George is flying widely and proudly in the land.
